COLL: Rise Soundtrack
Label: Utensil Recordings/Movement
This is the soundtrack to an upcoming documentary about “Disco Donnie” – whose rave parties in New Orleans were busted under the Crack-house laws as part of a totally unjust war on drugs. It is very important to play and support this CD as proceeds from the film and the CD will go towards the EMDEF fund. The old acid-house tracks are good (and most appropriate for this documentary), and so are the breaks tracks. Try: 7,10,11,13,16,18.
Tracks 1,5,8,12,17 are just vocal snippets
2. Generic rave breakbeat w/ guitar funk loops by Crystal Method
3. Starts w/ ambient dub, goes into progressive trance
4. Progressive tech-y trance w/ slick production, fem vocal echoes, big synths
6. Big time epic trance at 140 bpm or so – drop your E and rave on
7. A nice downtempo track w/ exotic percussion, as you’d expect from Thievery Corp
9. Funky house track w/ big fat basslines
10. SF’s Gavin Hardkiss makes this ultimate party-message house track
11. An old-school acid-house track. Cool.
13. Old school techno-y acid-house stuff. Cool again.
14. Turntablism (scratching) galore over uptempo funky beats
15. Thumpy techno w/ tweaky vocal loop
16. Big time breaks, nasty electro breakdowns
18. Spaced-out breaks – totally cool, old-school style
19. Heavy layers & funky breaks, nice rave-y energy
