The Mona Reels – On Through The Night
Great indie release from this Olympia, WA based quartet. Upbeat, simple songs make most of the album. Some nice female vocals provided by the Waxfire's Jennifer Grady. My picks
1, 2, 7, 13.
1) conversation audio clips over moving piano then a breakdown
halfway with gorgeous female vocals over a simple chorded piano
2) faster, rock song about high school?
3) straightforward piano with catch male vocal hook
4) slower, deep electronic bass
5) another high school piano rocker
6) church organ intro, simple song
7) acoustic strummer that leads to lightly distored M&F chorus
8) distorted samples from track 1 with acoustic guitar
9) female vocals and simple piano
10) harder, distored track with eerie organ
11) acoustic instrumental
12) nice vocals with a slow deep cello
13) good rock song
