Metalcore to the core with some tracks that show a “mellow” side (if you can call it that). Pass the Flask starts out by kicking your face in and doesn't let up until you feel sore all over. 5 angry young boys from Arizona make up this lovable bunch and if you dig the likes of Skrape or Pantera these boys might make it on your rotation. The album appears to have been split into sections with a couple of fast, “yeah, I've heard this screaming before” tracks divided by some that showcase their musical talents more than the lead singer's ability to still scream out another track. the good: well recorded and mastered; good sounding CD the bad: if you don't like screaming in your music...avoid this one the ugly: the CD jacket and insert design—too fancy for something sent to a radio station potty-mouth tracks: none detected (note: rating numbers are out of 10 and following each track description) 1.Red Wedding: beginning is inaudible and then goes into it; end slows down—sounds good (8) 2.You Know Who's Seatbelt: similar to track 1; mainstream, hard-rock sound (6) 3.I Never Met Another Gemini: begins with high-pitched guitar solo; voice and drums break in; doesn't scream all the time; showcases their musical talent the best (9) 4.Ruth Buzzi Better Watch Her Back: hard rock w/ screaming voclas (6) 5.Sound of Sulfur: faster beat & some more hard rock w/ screaming vocals (6) 6.Porcelain Hearts and Hammers For the Teeth: slower, melodic intro; no screaming at first then takes off—nice; longer track (9) 7.Get Up You Son of a B***, Cause Mickey Loves Ya: takes off right away; heavy beats and guitars; very short (5) 8.Spitshine Sonata: hard, but melodic w/ screaming vocals (8) 9.We Are the Industry: melodic again w/ screaming vocals (6) 10.Nothing We Say Leaves This Room: intro is in the background then hits you full steam after 25 seconds (7) review courtesy of rE\dOx | ||
