Nebula – Atomic Ritual (Liquor and Poker Music)
Stoner rock/metal and heavy-psych rock. Awesome, super fuzzed-out, super sludgy and trippy, driving rock, sounding a lot like Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, and even a little like High on Fire, only less heavy and evil. This is surprisingly well-produced. Everything sounds clear, and the fuzz is just right, with an awesome guitar tone, and some deep, deep, driving, rumbling bass lines. Very kick-ass. I like the whole thing, and I imagine this would be great under the influence of something consciousness expanding. The vocals have this unclear tone to them, like the guy is almost hurting when he’s singing. It’s hard to describe, but I kinda found myself wishing he’d grow some balls. Otherwise, this is a grand CD. I really like it a lot, and there are tons of good songs here (well, all of them). So play anything you want, it all rocks!
