Samir Joubran – Tamaas
Samir and his brother Wissam both play oud on this album. Instrumental (except one track); interesting compositions and arrangements. Very demanding stuff, not your usual rhythm-driven Arab music. The most accessible tracks are 1 (studio) 7, 8 (both are live tracks).
1.Mid tempo, oud +tabla drumming+“backing” oud.
2.Starts solo, then joined by the 2nd oud. Less rhythmic, more complex.
3.Slower track; tabla re-appears.
4-6.Mid tempo tracks, interesting compositions
7.Live, with vocal part that appears towards the end.
8.Live, more exciting track, blends at the end into a well-known flamenco piece.
