A 35-minute drum solo peppered with spontaneous proclamations ("In the drum space, there is no race. In the drum space, rhythm is law!") Reid is part of the thick catalogue of forgotten free-jazzers from the '60s and '70s, and this disk documents his chops and his ability to put color into the drums. Not the kind of thing you'd listen to every day, but worth hearing.
(NOTE: There's a smooth-jazz drummer named Steve Reid who's part of an awful group, The Rippingtons. This is *NOT* that guy.)
