Primordial vocal exercises, and electronic pieces created from same. Disc one: a series of basic vocal explorations. Disc two: “sound paintings,” evocative compositions using the building blocks of disc one. Not many words here, just the funny sounds the human voice instrument can make. Liner notes explain the concept/inspiration for pieces. Good for layering, or eerie backgrounds or soundbeds?
---Disc One (recorded in 1974)- introspective explorations of primal vocal noises.
1. (15:20) same note, different qualities of resonance.
2. (8:29) more violent and percussive, scratchy, snorty sounds
3. (7:31) one long sustained, no breaks—vocalized inhales and exhales
4. (13:45) explorations of “chordal singing”—almost two notes at once
*5. *(19:21) “ululations, birdlike calls and sonic gestures” kinda cool.
---Disc Two (collections of “sound paintings,” with electronically layered vocals)
1. (16:41) metallic, echoing, creepy, SciFi. Recorded live on guitar amp tools
2. (12:19) sounds like a buzzing eerie rainforest; animal cries and ambient groans
*3. *(7:28) a dance of four funny beasts, each with a distinct character
*4. *(8:06) chords and cries manipulate a radio interview on weird singing
5. (13:22) synthed song lyrics with birdcalls, pants, grunts, ambient drones
*6. *(14:19) vocal shooting stars; very supernatural.
