COLL: Anarchy In The P.R.C. - BrainFailure/Anarchy Jerks split 7” (Broken Rekids)
Hell yessss! This is fuckin’ punk rock with a capital ‘P’! There is more to Chinese music than “Canto-pop” cheese! Namely these two sides of anti-Maoist/anti-government, pro-anarchy, 70’s laden punk from the Bureaucratic People’s Republic of China. Both bands with a serious fixation on ‘76-’79 era UK punk/Oi! These kids will piss on Mao’s grave if they got the chance.
Anarchy Jerks side
#1 - 60’s rock riffing into AWESOME Ultra-rockin’ 70’s UK Oi! Lyrics in Chinese with a solid raw vocal tonalities.
#2 Rippin’ fast Misfits-like (even down to the “whoa-oh-ay-ho’s!”). Damn this fucker rocks! Never mind the language barrier - they’re playing the international language that makes you wanna sock the nearest Maoist asshole who claims to “speak for the people” in the face!
Brain Failure side
#1 Total Clash/Jam inspired action but these kids do it so much better than any bunch of 4th generation doofuses from the US or UK. Crank this one up!
#2 Verses in Chinese, choruses in English both of which they do excellent. Anyway, this is a nice Sex Pistols - laden rocker. Hail Chinese Punk & Long Live Anarchy!
