Kool Kitsch. Solo accordion played with enormous heart by a singular musician (real name Andrea Ross) who has written some outstanding songs (including one covered last year by Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips) but who's mostly known for covers. She's local, and has worked with Spiritualized and Dean Wareham. Her husband, Rich Stim, was in MX-80 Sound. This album originally came out in 1985 on cassette. Start with what you recognize, or with 3, 12, 14, or 15 for irony; 2, 4, 10, or 13 for kitsch. I particularly like 14, Femme Fatale.

I'm just listing who made the original famous, and when:
1. Santo & Johnny 1959
2. Rolling Stones 1978
3. Rolling Stones 1965
4. Bobby Vinton 1968/The Teddy Bears 1958
5 John Lennon 1971/Rolling Stones 1969
6. Elvis Presley 1956
7. The Brothers Four 1960
8. Roger Miller 1965
9. Marty Robbins 1956
10. Ritchie Valens 1959
11. Randy and the Rainbows 1963
12. Donovan 1968
13. The Monkees 1966, Petula Clark 1965, ?
14. The Velvet Underground 1967
15. The Beach Boys 1965
16. The Beatles 1970
