This is three kids from Redwood City (who on their website appear to be still in their teens). The name means something in Hawai’ian but their website is down when I again.
These 4 tracks show a lot of talent & some interesting mixes of ultra-low & murky death metal (think Incantation, Mortician minus the sampling) a hint of black metal, grind and some doom parts and hints at black metal & grind (mostly in track #1, though).
Overall, they’re a little confusing as they play really awesome doom parts as well as odd (but not annoying) tech-metal parts. For a first effort, the band sounds pretty tight & the quality of the production is solid but not polished (but your humble reviewer still listens to speed metal demos from 1984).
(((1))) Starts off all ambient then leads into a slow, industrial-laden, Godflesh-meets Hellchild thing leading to rhytmic death metal with some pretty solid riffing. Mostly mid-paced death metal
((2)) Thudding & straight-ahead fast, slow & doomy death metal. Something (and a little jazzy noodling 1:46-to the end)
((((3)))) Sounds like Hellchild flirting with Crytopsy and Godflesh. Weird as fuck vocals but the odd tones & crazy time-changes make it worthwhile. Killer Sleep/Corrupted styled über-doom ending, too.
(((4))) THICK sounding doom/death with more twisted vocals. Lots of thudding & a bit of groove. Sounds like Corrupted mixed with Incantation? Lots of odd but interesting experimentation going here.
