Foibles/ Kurt Vile and Nest of Saws

Foibles: punk/indie singer-songwriter from SF -- more great stuff from Foibles, mostly voice+guitar and excellent use of accordion, drums and piano. Sweet punk-rock ballads with acoustic guitar strumming, along with complex poetic lyrics.

Kurt Vile and Nest of Saws: a mix of dark distorted vocal samples and sinister beats/effects plus banjo and a weird country song, weird but good

33RPM

PICKS: A2, A3, B4, B3
FCC : A1

A: Foibles
1. slow, guitar+voice, drums come in later, about beatles rip-offs and fake emotionalism, great "la-la-la-la" part, FCC "fuck
2. uptempo, guitar strumming+drums, about hippie kids in Ashland OR,
3. GREAT -- slower + piano, great 3/4 melody with piano+accordion+drums at end

B: Kurt Vile and Nest of Saws:
1. sinister bass line + samples of old voice recordings, then distorted voices, a bit of banjo towards end
2. strange organ, quiet talking about submarines, low dark beats+blips
3. irregular dark beats, out-of-tune strings, screams, rises to a blur of sounds
4. strange country song, out-of-tune guitar, "if i blow my brains out i won't have to work no more", samples about G-O-D.
5. dark beats, high pitched voice, starts and stops for entire song, goes into locked groove
