West has put together an interesting mix of instruments and styles for this group, from abstract improv to funk to circus music. Unfortunately, the musicians often have differing ideas about which particular style the band should be playing and the result ends up sounding a bit like a musical tug of war. There’s a lot of good solo work here though, and when everybody’s on the same page it can be pretty interesting stuff.
1. Starts very sparse, gradually builds up steam but still abstract
*2. Fast, bouncy theme
3. Slow droney didgeridoo eventually finds a groove after false starts
4. Dark and brooding
*5. Loud wailing solos
6. Abstract with touches of melody
*7. Fast funky groove
8. Creaking abstract sound goes into spacey groove
