Craig Matsumoto Reviewed 2004-07-24 | ||
Trio of sax (Joe Giardullo), bass, drums, doing improvised jams in a free-jazz mode (that is, it's recognizable as "jazz.") Good session with strong playing throughout and a nice variety of moods. 1- Strong, bright 2*- Psychedelic? A tumbling, mysterious flute jam with high energy drums 3- Slow. Cool ambling bass overshadowed by raspy sax. (Includes a long, low-level drum tone that gets a tad dull) 4*- Calm, quiet. Bass-dominated, with relaxed touches of "world" percussion 5- Quiet squeaking, gets tumbing and faster later 6- Meditative and sparse, with flute. Native-American influence. 7*- Fast and tumbling, with aggressive bass |
