I have never been a real Wilco fan, but this album has me seriously singing their praises. In fact this record is my second vote for ALBUM OF THE YEAR (Animal Collective is #1) This record has everything, pop hooks, genius songwriting, phenomenal guitar playing (dirty, noisy, beautiful, melodic, you name it), Noise drones (14:00 minutes of it!), ghostly vamps, rockin anthem. Fuck I love this record. Indie-experimentors will love it, Alt-country faithfulls still have plenty to choose from. PLAY THIS RECORD. ALL TRACKS GREAT! - tHE bAWD oF euphony 1**(5:29) Great song. Starts with moody solo piano and vox then guitars rip into a dirty stomp. 2**(4:33) One of my favorite tracks. Great songwriting, moody piano, great guitar solo. 3*(10:41) Awesome track. Vamps for a long time, noisy guitars solos, busts in the middle. 4*(4:51) Jim O’rouke influenced acoustic number. Light and airy with a moody undertone. 5*(3:06) Beatlesque song. Great melodies and playing. Violin shimmers. Awesome! 6*(6:02) Mid-tempo rocker. Slowly builds into a noisy guitar atmosphere. Upbeat. 7*(4:37) Chaotic noisy intro builds into a beautiful ballad. Great song! 8**(3:42) Cool intro. Mid tempo semi-rocker. Melodic and beautiful. Great layers of tone. 9**(2:33) Punkier song, real rocking and great groove. Awesome! 10*(3:31) A Fleetwood Mac pocket groove. Awesome solo. Love it 11(15:00) minute of moody piano song and 14:00 of drone. Very Cool but for special occasions only. 12(2:30) Quick ending. Very Wilco sound. Upbeat acoustic guitars. Anthemy. | ||
