Album Review
Captain Dee
Reviewed 2005-01-30
Ultra dancey techno madness! Miura is Japanese, so it's fitting that this release seems like a soundtrack to a nighttime ninja chase/fight scene in the flashy streets of neo-Tokyo. The album borders on over-the-top – thumping, relentless dance beats over seizuring synth melodies. Unlike other similar minimal dance techno, however, Miura crafts his relentless electronic insanity with a refreshing twist that I can't quite identify. Great stuff, but brace yourself for Miura's storm.

Recommendations: Track 2 is so fresh and fun! (And exceedingly aptly named)
Also try: 5, 7, 8, 13, 15.

- Captain Dee, Jan. 2005

1. Harsh noises, messy beat, slightly frantic radio transmission-ish samples. (1:57)
**2. The name is perfect - the musical equivalent of riding a yellow pogo stick! Super bouncey beat, chorus of chimes. So fucking infectious! (3:27)
3. Marchy beat, fuzzy electronic layers, dark ambience. (6:00)
4. Sparkling melody echos, rumbling bass, hovering synths, simple beat. (2:25)
*5. A robot overdosing on drugs at a futuristic rave? Lots of high-pitched sounds and trippy melodies. (5:22)
6. Computer beeping, pounding beat, epic synth washes, goofy sounds. Lost in a giant CPU, perhaps. (8:19)
*7. Boards of Canada-esque melody, slightly chiller beat, murky vibe. (5:11)
*8. Scurrying electronics, off-kilter melody. (5:15)
9. Thumping. I keep thinking of ninjas fighting in absurd Anime style. (8:36)
10. Unsettling beeps, boops and clangs. No beat. (1:02)
11. Another torrent of bouncey, pounding madness, this time more minimal. (3:54)
12. Pretty melody. Rhythmic but no beat. Not as "electronic" sounding as other tracks. (1:56)
*13. Slower, mid-tempo feel. Borders on IDM/glitch-hop. (4:37)
14. Fuzzy crashing synths and hisses. Syncopated hip-hop-ish beat. (3:14)
*15. Ethereal/pulsing melody fragments dance around a torrent of interesting, excited beats. Imagine an all-out ninja robot war. (8:06)
16. Pure ambience fades in and out, cute melody on top. (1:49)
