Like a postmodern-classical treatment of modern jazz guys' works (Wadada Leo Smith, Vinny Golia, etc.) Tracks are built on a foundation of group improvising. Dominant sounds include aggressive jazzy sax and harsh electronics, plus operatic female vocals that add some strangeness.
- Crazy electronic gloopiness, into morose swirl of voice and sax (by Wadada Leo Smith)
- Slow, with Native American-sounding flute. Gets faster towards end. (by Vinny Golia)
- Screaming and vicious near the end. A Braxton piece that starts out studious but jazzy/upbeat. With nicely percolating group improv. (by Anthony Braxton)
- Like a minimalist opera, full of sparse, surreal episodes. Theatrical weirdness. Also some humor: at the halfway point (-8:40) a speaker barks out commands: "Nina, sing something nice!" (by George Lewis)
- Big city chaos: Poetry + fast traffic-like buzz. After a relative pause, a mad crash of sounds: Poetry + funky sax + unrelated singing (including "Strange Fruit" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot." A fast-paced, chaotic celebration. (by Arash Haile)
