Mushroom – Glazed Popems
2 discs of long, lush old-school early 70s psychedelic folk-funk jams. There’s plenty of vintage electronics and long guitar solos here, but their beautiful production (especially on the first disc) makes it sound like you’ve picked up a futuristic record from 1972 (um, that's a compliment). Like most double-disc sets, there’s a few duds, disc 2 especially, but hey.. that just gives you a chance to repack the bong without missing the good stuff.
Disc 1:
**1. Starts with slow tribal drums, layers gradually build up as the rest of the band enters and the slinky groove starts. Worth the wait!
2. Slow and spacey guitar
**3. Dark jangly guitar riff with nice flute
4. Breathy and slow
*5. Lava lamp slinky groove
6. Noodly guitar and electric piano
**7. Rumbling, scraping groove
8. Noisy chatter
9. Pretty flute excerpt
Disc 2:
*1. Nasty slow funk, starts getting moody halfway in then builds back up
*2. Playful melodic percussion & electronics
**3. Driving groove
*4. Mournful slow blues
5. Loungey relaxed feel
6. Slow proggy noodling, starts to build momentum at the end
7. Slow sax solo
8. Sloppy wah-funk jam
