John S. Hall has never pulled a punch in his life and now that BushCo Inc. is firmly entrenched in the world he’s not about to start. Scathing social commentary, “absurdist humor” marks his trademark spoken musical voiceover that he’s been doing for well over a decade now. This latest release’s “America Kicks Ass” justifies the albums existence singlehandedly entirely with an in-your-face over the top drunken frat boy (dubya anyone?) hostile cocky attitude diatribe reflecting what seems to be the United State’s Foreign policy of late (“the rest of the world is america’s bitch”). The music ranges from ironic/sarcastic near smooth jazz to cool experimental indie/post rock flare. Unfortunately almost all of his music features extreme potty mouth, I mean EXTREME. Fortunately the label provided us with a disc with cleaned up versions of some of the albums high points. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T PLAY THE FCC LADEN TRACKS. We’re talking unapologetic indulgent profanity, bordering on an art statement in itself. Almost a guarentee to get kicked off the air if you accidently air one.
Two discs included:
Cleaned Up Disc (red “America Kicks Ass” disc, not keyed in zookeeper, upload track title instead of track number)
1) “America Kicks Ass” – righteous sarcastic comment on USA foreign policy, international aggression and exploitive trade practices, over mid paced rock, this is the best!
2) “the chosen” – spoken word over smooth exotica jazz, about failure, aspirations, then turns to beastiality
3) “good things”, you know, like avocadas, pillows, kittens, and skull f*cking, over mid paced indie rock
4) “Antimatter”, postish indie rock, bizarre blather
DO NOT PLAY TRACKS 5-8 AS THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL FILTHY VERSIONS
Original album disc (keyed in Zookeeper). UNLESS THE TRACK IS LISTED BELOW DO NOT PLAY AS THE REST ARE ABSOLUTELY RIFE WITH EXTREME FCCS
1) non-musical, “meditation is boring”, hilarious
4) meandering jazz-like music, silly commentary on being happy
7) smooth jazz under “mean spirited” talk of the Bush/Reagan administration folks “I hope you die a painful death”
15) 70’s funky music, silly mystical lyrics, story, huh?
