Joelle Leandre / Gianni Lenoche – Sur Une Balancoire

Excellent set of duets featuring the superb bass of Joelle Leandre and piano of Gianni Lenoche. The album as a whole has a composed “modern classical” sound to it, though everything here is improvised.

*1. Longingly classical sounding
2. Skittery and abstract
*3. Swirls of sound get more complex
4. Mysterious rumbling
5. Celebratory improv
6. Somber dirge
*7. Like a deranged music box, struggling to get control of it’s tune
*8. Busy classical improv
9. Percussive duet
**10. Delicate and pretty in a creepy way
11. Lumbering motion
12. Creaky start,
*13. Pretty bowed bass solo
**14. Forceful pizzicato from both instruments gradually gets a fuller sound
