Sonore (Brotzmann / Gustafsson / Vandermark) – No One Ever Works Alone When you see those 3 names at the top of an album, it can only mean one thing: saxophone orgy. Full speed ahead, captain! All tracks are excellent. 1. Brash wailing turns more introspective 2. Pretty mellow, with a few loud bursts 3. Staccato bursts drop abruptly to leave bass clarinet, then builds from there 4. Klaxon-like tarogoto beginning, rapidly gets sparse followed by a long solo section, and finally ending with slow group work 5. Quiet, introspective, (almost) normal 6. Solo, then Ayleresque cacophony, then more melodic playing 7. Moody background with ectastic wail Ben B 12/20/04 |
