I only have a spotty familiarity w/DM (linking them only to an East Coast version of psychedelia, Comets on Fire with this coast) and even less than that with their classic rock influences—some names that get dropped wrt to DM: Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd. Here's my humble take: spacey, hypnotic stoner rock with fantastical/natural imagery. These guys are supposedly heavy into Tolkein which is fine since there's no explicit mentioning of elves, dwarves, or whatever lameness happens to those hobbit characters. Jason Simon has a high, nasally and slightly haunting voice which works well over these visceral and lush textures, but also gets overwhelmed by them at times. Heavy but slow. This is good. FCC Clean.

1. Slightly bluesy. Sets the pace for the album.
2. Indiscernible lyrics about sad animals and a little more melodic.
3. Muddy, hypnotic stoner rock tune.
4. Heavy riffs. Reverb.
**5. Slide guitar into a wah wah pedal closer. Pretty. More attention to distinct vox.
6. Heavy guitars. Lots of prominent guitar solos.
**7. Echoes on guitars and vocals, which are also more prominent here. A little more melodic and prettier as well.
**8. Coolly distant vocal delivery. Wah-guitar solo slices through the middle.
9. 2 minutes of pure drumming.
**10. Unlisted/Untitled 13 min. track. Cool bass riff. Reaches a crescendo in the middle and sort of cools down.
