Michael Columbia - These Are Colored Bars (Alabaster) Another confusing name - NO ONE in the band is named Michael Columbia or any combo thereof. Some KILLER combo of space pop, progresive rock and dub beats from Dylan Ryan and David McDonnell. Soundwise close to: early Gong, Soft Machine and sometimes like Silver Apples or Jessamine.
(((((1))))) Gorgeous waves of spacey-synths, voice, sax =
prog-tastic.
(((((2))))) Excellent, throbbing Crime In Choir/Gong kind of vibe, nice jazzy drumming & sax parts.
((((3)))) Mid-70’s synth sound ‘ala Jean Michael-Jarré mixed with Gong. Beautiful violin sound.& repetitive “la-la-la”’s
((((4)))) Slow, repetitive dub/jazz funk/prog collision.
(((5))) Pretty good space-dub experiements.
((((6)))) Busy sounding, Soft Machine/Gong like piece. Great sax work!
(((7))) Vocal experiementation & weird echo/distortion layers then full -on electro dub.
(((8))) Minimal dub with compelling waves of Jessamine-like moog/synths, airy male vocals.
((((9)))) Slow waves of space ambience & random alien chimpmunk voices.
(((10))) Space-dub, etheral pop with tight jazzy drumming.
