John Zorn – 50th Birthday Celebration Vol. 8
Excellent improv taken from two live sets during Zorn’s birthday festival at his club in NYC. Ibarra is an excellent foil for Zorn’s sax with her bubbling Eastern percussion and precise pummeling of the drumkit. Great stuff!

*1. Wild bursts of sax matched nicely with percussion
2. Solid wall of improv, long “raygun” sax at end
*3. Mellow rumbling drums and sax
4. Super crazed Zorn sax
Smith / Ibarra / Zorn Trio
5. Sparse squeaks & rumbles
6. Slow drawn out improv (horn duet)
*7. Continuation of 6, still drawn out but has its loud moments
8. Sparse horn duet
*9. Excellent trio encore – a fast jazzy pulse and great solos
