Mainstream jazz violinist with a strong creative streak. Heavy doses of Jean Luc Ponty in his blood, but Brock has the taste to use his prog/fusion chops only on certain tracks. He'll use distortion to get a guitar sound from the violin -- which is either edgy or too "classic rock" depending on POV (#1,5).

Recommended despite some unpleasantly sappy songs (#9 especially). But if the industry powers ever decide to market Brock as the Next Big Thing, I guess they'll be glad to see he can show some heart.

My faves : 1,5,7,8

1- Slow, lingering, chiming. Builds during a guitar-like solo
2- Cute, perky midtempo with odd time sigs. Gets cheesy.
3- Schlocky "luv" funk, light but pretty
4- Parisian sidewalk-cafe sound
5- Complex prog-like scrawls, fairly fast
6- Soft, slow. Female vocal
7- Light, bouncing, w/harmonica & male voc. A bit Metheny-like in spots.
8- Proggy Daryl Anger sound. Rips it up in the solo.
9- Soft and happy and just awful
