One part The Ex, another Ex Models, dissonant yet melodic new rock borrowing heavily from post punk and no-wave, but definately taking a step forward. Think Gang of Four meets Kleenix/Lilliput. Not sure how much more of a step forward you're looking for (Sonic Youth ca. 1986?). If you don't listen youre missing out. All tracks good, mostly radio friendly, brief.
