The Four Eyes - Rock & Roll Playing (Plastic Idol) Think of the late 80’s/early 90’s East Bay pop-punk bands like the Hi-Fives, Green Day’s 1st LP, ALL & Descendents. 3 nerdy, geeky kids from Sacramento playing power-pop & melodic, strummy punk. When I say “nerdy & geeky” I mean that’s these guys pure & true.-they cover the various strains of nerdom: RPGs, comics, Star Trek & computers.
(((((1))))) Perfect, catchy power-pop with a “geek’s revenge” theme.
(((2)))) Fast, shuffling tempo. All about ruling at the spelling bee.
(((((3)))))) Awesome melodic with great vocals/vocal harmonics. An ode to one of the greatest movies ever.
(((4))) Decent but too redundant
((((5)))) Funny, 5-6 chord roller about nerds goin’ mad in Vegas.
((((6)))) Kinda like Weird Al doing early East Bay punk. Funny lyrics.,
((((7)))) Thudding, straight-ahead sorta Love Songs sounding if they were infected by RPGs and not nut shaving.
((((8)))) Hi-larious, traditional rock balladish with totally geeky lyrics.
(((9)))) Strummy, poppy number, reminds me of Squeeze. Nice.
((((10)))) Bouncy, slightly rockabilly vibe with lots of silly breakdowns.
((((11)))) Holy shit! A cover of video game novelty songsmith’s Bruckner & Garcia’s “Berzerk”. Mid-paced, vocal harmony with surfy guitar flairs.
((((12)))) Folksy, poppy punk with a Tolkien influence?!?! Radness!
(((13))) So-so , simple punk & rock shuffle
(((14))) Spacey trippiness, goes into nice 4 chord riffs & nice vocal harmonies.
