CLEARLAKE: Wonder if the Snow Will Settle
Beautiful lush indie pop album. Great instrumentation and riffs. The vox is the only part that’s a little shake-y. Even the cover is good! Very pretty. Some of the songs are very dark but they put it to happy music so it’s all okay. Recommended: ALL but esp. 2 and 4
Track One: Driving guitar and drums. Clear, mellow male vox. A little minor. During chorus, gets more pop and upbeat. Pretty good guitar solo. Mix between super mellow and upbeat. Handclapping.
*Track Two: Starts minimal with guitar. Lush pop with vox and bells. Happy-go-lucky. Great lyrics. Kind of dark but sounds so happy.
Track Three: More quiet. Lots of reverb. Acoustic guitar. Vox is a little warble-ly and strained. Funny lyrics: “whenever I want to make myself feel better, I hang out with people I don’t like.”
*Track Four: Harder rock. Driving guitars and bass/ Lots of sixties influence. Especially in lyrics. Neil Young cover.
Track Five: More pysch. Dream-like sequence opening. Instrumental. Builds on itself. Short.
Track Six: Starts off slow. Synthesizer is in the background. Beautiful vox. Vocals border between mid and slow while most of song hangs back. Very mellow and soft and pretty. Piano at the end.
Track Seven: Great guitar opener. Vox are soft again. Lingering. Good harmonies vox, others take a back seat and bells come in. Sounds a little X-mas-y
