CHRIS VON SNEIDERN • CALIFORNIA REDEMPTION VALUE (mastromonia)
CVS is a prolific man when it comes to song. This his 9th record (I believe) and is his most fully realized record to date. Written in between living in Seattle and SF, Ca Redemption seems to be Chris realizing where his home really is. Songs are rooted in the songwriting realm with expanded arrangements featuring a full band. Chris is not afraid to rock, which lots of songwriters seem to be shying away from these days, and Chris does it well. Often times I am reminded of Robert Pollard/ Guided By Voices when listening. Pop hooks run throughout this record giving it an almost anthemic feel at times. Mostly upbeat with Major key tonality. Listen and learn! -tHE bAWD oF eUPHONy
