Nevermore is a straight ahead heavy metal band although at times they throw some thrash. Great riffs, clean vocals, catchy choruses. Bass & drums could use some better mixing. Solid guitar work by new guy Steve Smyth (Testament, Dragonlord). Insightful – lots of musings on religions, war, media, consumerism & conformity of society.
(((((1))))) Really tight mix of thrash & tradition metal. Stellar riffing & soaring vocals.
((((2)))) Thudding & nice cymbal crashes, very traditional Heavy Fuckin’ Metal!
((((3)))) Mixes up thrash & traditional. Warrell Dane’s vocals are top-notch here. Showing the ATG worshiping schmucks how it’s done.
(((4))) Sort of bland & redundant approach but awesome chorus & vocals.
((((5)))) Soft vs. loud bursts. Yes, a power-ballad that DOESN’T SUCK! (See “Fade To Black”, “Watch The Children Pray”).
((((6)))) Rythmic, repetitive with some varied tempos and vocals. Sort like Alice Cooper mixed with ‘Priest?
((((7)))) Noodly guitar solo/interlude. Some cool acoustic harmonics.
((((8)))) Very much like “Rage”-era Queensryche. Slow winding guitars, kinda power-balladish (again, which doesn’t suck!). Catchy & melodramatic.
((((9)))) Mid-paced, varied riffs & mid-80’s like solos– really captivating stuff. An odd mix of Fates Warning/Priest meets Nasty Savage.
(((10))) Acoustic guitar with smooth thrash/trad metal sound. Not bad but the changes in tempo & riffs don’t really work that well.
(((((11))))) More acoustic intros then melodic metal epic feeling. My what mighty riffs you make, Nevermore! Nice stuff to be play next to “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner”, “Satan’s Fall”, etc. (FCC -5:45 “Fucking”)
