New music, avante experimentalism, treated classical instrumentation from strings to brass to piano. Top notch stuff, if not academic. Come listen to what academia labels “new music” (and if you like this, stream WKCR weekday afternoons). Good liner notes. 1) pensive strings, excellent arco bass, vocalizations appear ~6 min w/ percussiveness 2) percussion minimalism 3) treated tones, very old school “experimental” 4) good solo piano w/ drones and subliminal tape treatments 5) disparate noise, tape speed manipulation 6) prog rock crossed with experimental, cool 7) saxophones, very experimental 8) piano centered new music, treated, almost player piano at times. | ||
