The Bawd Of Euphony

A pacific northwesterner, Laura Viers has been crafting beautiful songs for years now. This, her second release for indie/major giant Nonesuch is her best to date. Simple songs decorated with masterful arrangements that includes blips, bleeps, strings, keys, beats and of course great guitar playing. Her voice is crisp and honest and I find her melodies intoxicating. Moodiness dominates with the occasional upbeat rocker as well. Know-Yr-Own/ K records veteran Karl Blau (The Microphones, Mount Eerie, Kelp!) plays all over this record adding a twist in places that need it. Play this often!!! –tHE bAWd oF eUPHONy

**(4:57) Cool acoustic guitar melody and vocals. This is the heart of her music. Beautiful and pulsey rhythm enters making this a great piece.
**(3:35) Single from the record. Distorted guitars and wiggly synths, a semi-rocker, great melodies
**(5:15) Great swing with full band. Weaving vocals and really cool keys. Great song!
*(2:37) Tender acoustic number.
*(3:06) Cool violin/guitar melody, very Eastern. 4/4 mid tempo.
**(4:00) Another swinger, moody guitar and smooth snare work. Nice fuzzy guitars. Cool arrangements. Dig it
**(2:42) I love this number. A standout track. Mostly acoustic guitar/vocals. Simple feel with cool syth swells. Peter Gabriel vocal chorus. Awesome stuff
*(2:52) Upbeat groove. Nice feel
**(3:06) Slower swing, acoustic guitar/vocals. Cool harmonies and a warm arrangement.
**(3:11) This one is for you Murray. Rocking swing with great pop hooks. String work is rad! Love it!
**(3:40) Acoustic/vocals intro w/ electric guitar melody. Great fingerpickin’.
***(3:25) This is my favorite track, it just gets me right at the core for some reason. Super super Moody, great guitar line and RAD Chinese sounding keyboard work. Reminds me of the Cure’s “The Figurehead”, call me weird if you must. Electro beat throughout ***Song ends early there is about 2 minutes of silence before secret track 13.
(1:34) 3 Minutes of silence then what sounds like her home demo of track 7 on the piano. Kind of silly
