Calm jamming, mostly slow, in an accessible sax-bass-drums contest. Some tracks concentrate on catchy melody (7), but many use a modern-bop composition to launch into a calm groove, i.e. this isn't necessarily stuff you'd hum along to. Still very accessible and could make a nice cool-down break for many shows.
Matt Wilson on drums is the "name" player here -- check out his slightly twisted straight-bop solo albums in the library. Ohad Talmor did a 2004 sextet CD with Steve Swallow called "The Bum's Tale."
- Slowly wandering improv
- Low-key, a steady mid/fast intro.
- Slow and playful, a bit showtuney
- Upbeat midtempo chugging
- Slow. Very quiet for the first 1:30.
- Slow. Starts scattery and free (but slow).
- Cute melody, mid/slow
- Applause and band intro. 22 seconds.
- Upbeat energy, sparse at first but gets burning
