Retro synth/dance rock, and more. Male vocals. Local. An eclectic EP, centered on the ’80s but ranging from disco to dark noise rock (like The Vanishing or Lost Sounds). TBE is the solo project of Shane Frink who won the “Best Rock Scene Booster” award from the Guardian in 2003 (the year this EP came out) and who, along with Amy Linton of The Aislers Set, writes songs for Will Schwartz’s (ex Imperial Teen) Willpower project. FCC clean as far as I could tell. Start with 4.

1. Dancey 80s synth pop. Tribute to New Order and to The Cure in their disco mode.
2. Dancey 70s synth pop. Tribute to The Cars, no shit, although with a post-punk esthetic.
3. Slow, ominous, dark... moving to high energy and dark (like Lost Sounds). Starts with very slow fade-in from silence. Fades, then a couple of secs of silence.
==> 4. High energy, dark noise/dance. A bit like The Vanishing fronted by Jonathan Richman on crystal meth. Starts with full band. Ends suddenly. Short.
