Legendary German speed-metallers with their latest album mixing the classic speed sound with traditional 80’s parts and modern production. Unexpectedly sounds more “Bay Area Thrash” than “German Speed” (yes, there’s a difference).
Special guests on “Alliance Of Hellhounds” are from Warlock, Iron Maiden, Anvil, Death Angel, Saxon, Hypocrisy, Soilwork, Dimmu, Rage and Candlemass! Holy heaviness! Overall some fun stuff but a lot of this gets used up too fast.
((((1)))) Yer standard intro-thrash/speed ‘ala Bay Area 1987 vs. Mayhemic Germanic 1985.
((((2)))) Crunchy gallop riffage. Pretty damn intense. A few nods to “K.E.A.”-era Metallica.
(FCC “fucking thrash!”)
(((((3))))) Metal as FUCK! Catchy, anthemic “unity” feeling. The first lines are a history lesson and the vocals-daaamn!
(((4))) Thick tone, battering, straight-forward & catchy but not really going far enough.
(((5))) Acoustic noodling, shifts between quiet & loud, plodding & mostly bland.
((((6)))) Rhythmic, nice basic drums, gang vocals, similar to their 1988 “Release From Agony” LP.
((((7)))) Megadeth-like, jagged riffing, too much forced vocal breakdowns.
((((8))) A little confused between the fast vs. slow, should’ve stayed with one or the other.
((9)) Asleep at the wheel and too scatter-brained.
(((((10))))) Hell yeah! Kick-ass The “Mad Butcher” is now “Bonded By Blood”! (FCC “fucking life”, “worthless fuck”)
((((11)))) Gnarly vocals, Schimer has a great range. Solid, headbangin’ riffs. (FCCs “fucking” sung twice)
(((12))) Acoustic outro.
