Arsis – Diamonds for Disease (Willowtip)
Techie progressive metal. It’s heavy and fast and complicated with lots of guitar wanking This is also a 3-song EP, which is mostly made up of one 13 minute track that was composed for a NYC dance troupe, “Ballet Deviare”. Even with all the heaviness and technical playing there is still plenty of melody and even an obvious nod to 80s metal about 8 minutes into the first track. And a concept EP about marriage?
**1. 13 minute epic that starts quiet and classical sounding. The track builds for the first minute before kicking into a heavy, fast and complicated set of ideas. There are a couple sections which sound like a bunch of 80s metal. Progressive metal.
2. A lot less complicated and more rooted in thrash.
3. A much shorter track with a slight gallop.
OK stuff -mph
