Artsy piano/violin improvisations, plus occasional vocals. Malcolm Goldstein is a premier violin improv guy who often leans toward avant-classical microtones and scratchy bowed notes; it's the piano that supplies much of the mood. Kind of avant-classical, although some tracks (like 11) would fit well on "noise" shows. 1- Classical jumble, gets crazy then quiets down 2- Jagged, very slow. Very quiet start. Cute scrabbly end. 3- Dramatic gray-sky feel, starts slow but heats up 4- Hard-dug violin and pointillistic piano, building into a scrum 5- Violin squeaks, placid piano. Starts quiet; gets loud. 6- Big, loud, angry. Dark foreshadowing intro. 7- Action-packed. Bursty at first. 8- Solitary squeaking to begin; ends with dark angry mesh. 9- Clicky, percussive, w/high piano scribbles. 1 minute long. 10- Playful, with rapid high tinkly piano. Later: dark scribbles, aggressive and fast 11- Long, ghostly scratches. Noticeable pause around +3:20 12- Starts studious, slow, quiet. Gets faster, ends neatly. 13- Quick and really fast scribble. Starts slow. 14- Quiet ghostly blip, 46 seconds |
