Abstract clicky-clacky improv, a rerelease of a 1989 album. Quintet led (sort of) by John Butcher on sax. Mostly acoustic set where the focus is on sound poetry, sometimes coaxing strange new sounds from common instruments.

This has its share of nicely clattery jams, but also lots of quiet stretches or outright pauses. Which is nice for relishing the weight of silence and its use as a musical tool... but not so good for radio airplay.

Recommended for anyone liking strange and noisy stuff, as is anything of Butcher's.

- Slow, crashing, into low burble. Fast and loud near the end.
- Sprinklings of sound, midtempo. Gets loud.
- Quiet, with long slow tones
- Upbeat clatter, active. Into smooth rustle led by guitar
- Very quiet w/fluttery flute-like sax
- Buzzy chatter with quiet holes. Some cool sounds: might be electronics, or just tricks on the sax & trombone.
- Active clatter, careful and not too loud
- High fluttering and scratchy horn buzz. w/VERY quiet part
- Quiet, sneaky, with a couple of nervous noise surges
- Clangs of doom. Slow ghostly tones
- Sharp, small splashes
- Very quiet. Faint howls. One stretch of high squeaky tones
- Low-level rustle, opens w/musical saw! Louder near end
- Quiet rattle, with some echoey electronic enhancement
