Roy Nathanson - Sotto Voce Interesting disc of funky, upbeat jazz poetry from saxophonist and vocalist Nathanson. The musicianship is excellent with superb vocal harmonies and some quirks (the drums are beatboxed which works really well), but some of the arrangements got a little too McFerrin-esque for me. All tracks have poetry, no FCCs *1. Happy funky beat *2. Bluesy med-tempo 3. Speedy light patter 4. Slower, dramatic *5. Updated version of Roland Kirk classic *6. Jazz arrangement of showtune *7.
