Jazz-infused jams from a duo traversing between Boston and Amsterdam. Sometimes pure jazz, sometimes messy Funk. A bit on the dark side. Mostly keyboards (think Hammond) and bass, with Sax and drums joining in some tracks (2, 4,5,8,10). Lots of answering machine messages in Italian as connecting parts/prologs. No FCCs to the best of my knowledge.
1. Jazzy Ska. Starts with a message on an answering machine.
*2. A more contemplative Jazz piece.
3. Dark funky Jazz. A short track reminiscent of Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
**4. Nino-Rota-style jumpy music. Great stuff. 30 sec before the end switches to a woman leaving a message on an answering machine. Connects beautifully with the subsequent track.
**5. A long beautiful piece. Goes from quiet and delicate to more dramatic. Piano and sax. A ~1:30 min bass solo midway, leading to a more frantic part.
6. Suspenseful music.
7. Dark music (see track 3). Opens with another weird message.
*8. Dark and mysterious. Reminded me of Emerson Lake and Palmer’s Abbadon’s Bolero. Slows down at the end, and again a message (woman).
*9. Slow and searching. Piano, bass and drums. Ends with a message (man).
**10. An energetic remix of track 1, with different parts recorded at different occasions, including during a live performance. Sounds great.
