Larry Yes: A Whole Lotta Skeletons; Label: Discobulus.
Humble freak-folk. Lyrics reminiscent of Jason Anderson (but not narrative). Sparse and soft, but energetic and fuzzy-warm. Animal Collective wordless harmony choruses. Acoustic guitar, sparse percussion. Relies heavily on vocals (Male MEM-era Joanna Newsom?). Quite intimate music. Sound fairly homogenous throughout album. Fcc: #1 (s***)? Best tracks: #3, 9, 12, 6
1) 2:13 - folky/jazzy acoustic guitar. “s***”. Beautiful, humble chorus.
2) 3:58 - acoustic strum. Whistling. Lotsa reverb.
3) 3:46 – slow plucking, pensive love song. Pleasing chorus. “Mmmm” lyrics. Intimate.
4) 2:54 – Joanna Newsom plucking. Odd lyrics. Quick time change at 1:46 and 0:16?
5) 3:15 – nice harmonies. Minimalist.
6) 3:35 –stuttering guitar strums. Eastern rhythm. Piano low in mix. Tuba.
7) 2:24 –minimalist guiar/singer-song writer stuff.
8) 1:58 – oom-pah brass rhythm. Stuttering vocals. Poppy love song.
9) 4:24 – electric guitar. Sparse electronic noises.
10) 3:27 –group vocals. Laughing children. Sparse, syncopated guitar. Happy music.
11) 4:28 –spoken “are we rolling?” opening. Xylophone. syncopated rhythm on guitar. Lastten seconds background noise.
12) 3:08 – vocal duet. Sparse guitar. “La-la” ending.
