Estonian Dancehall! Closer to dance/hip hop than roots rock Reggae. What’s not to love? CD 1 is the same riddim, different rappers. Note – 4 different languages represented! CD 2 is a comp of some of Estonia’s hottest dancehall acts. Mostly in Estonian. FCC scrubbed.
CD1 best tracks 1, 8, 11, 13, 14; CD 2 best tracks 4, 6, 9, 10
CD1: (same riddim - a bit downtempo with syncopated percussion)
1. In Spanish, a bit reminiscent of reggaeton. 2. Patchy vocals, interesting. 3. In Finnish, spacey chorus but rather monotonous rap. 4. Fun deep vocals, tough sound. 5. In English, fun male/female sex war. 6. In English, odd lyrics and sirens. 6. Sweet English Rasta lyrics, some sung. 7. In English, fun but naughty lyrics. 8. Deep male vocals, nice sound. 9. A little frantic sounding, with scratching. Not all that chill! 10. Da Riddim. Some “wo”, otherwise no vocals. 11. Crazy remix of track 2, fun noises. 12. Remix of track 4, with added orchestration and keyboards. 13. Remix of track 5, video game noises – fun! 14. Remix of track 6, more dub and less dancehall.
15. Remix of track 9, more scratching. 16. Slower riddim, completely mad rap.
CD 2:
1. intro – goofy 2. Fun dubby uptempo riddim, equally fun vocals with lots of reverb. 3. Midtempo dance beat, English clips, lots of rappers. 4. Energetic with horns, fun and upbeat. 5. Midtempo sparce riddim with some nonsense vocals. 6. Uptempo bouncy riddim with boopy bass and fun vocals. 7. A bit downbeat jazzy beat yet with fairly manic vocals. 8. Music box and spoken intro, sax and slow beat. 9. Midtempo funky riddim, a bit mysterious, lots of rapping. Long ending with applause. 10. Midtempo funky riddim remixed from the kitchen sink, rap in thickly accented English. 11. Rather slow smooth jazz groove with orchestra, mocking lyrics in English and backing vocals. Odd but interesting…
