WALLS OF JERICHO – “With Devils amongst Us All” CD (Trustkill)
Parts metalcore, parts NYC hardcore, and parts SLAYER with brutal female vocals. One of the best metalcore bands going these days. Rhythm centric in every way with many great breakdowns. Heavy and tons of headbanging moments.
1. Something about the simplicity of the guitar but at the same time heaviness that brings back early 80s thrash. Shitty vocals for a chorus. Ugh.
**2. Holy crap! Vaguely anti-TV/anti-hipster and fucking brutal. Lots of changes, huge gallops on guitar, and under 3 minutes.
3. NYCHC in attitude and lyrics but semi-posi and heavy.
**4. I don’t think there is a current band that plays rhythm guitar better. Headbanging rhythm after headbanging rhythm.
5. Emo lyrics to go with nice thrash. Gang vocals during the chorus.
6. Slower intro and another than has an 80s thrash sound. I loved this track till the odd chorus. Huh? QUEEN-like.
**7. SLAYER-like riff to go along with an interesting story that sounds like it’s self referential when they are on tour.
8. The title is self explanatory and the track is heavy with a nice slow breakdown.
9. Ballad. Beware.
10. One of the more obvious breakdowns.
11. More melodic but no less heavy.
Good stuff. -mph
