Christ Illusion

Ah…dood, it’s SLAYER – need I say more? Uh yeah – they’re back. They remembered how to play thrash metal and still hating religion like you’d expect. This is pretty damn fierce and proves that you can still play kick ass music into your 40’s. Nothing new or totally mindblowing but for a Slayer album in 2006 – it does the job.

((((1))))) (FCC “fucking” in first verse) Solid mix of thrash and some steady mid-paced riffs.
((((2))) TOO MANY FCCS – AVOID!
(((3))) Rhythmic to speedy, chunky riffs, takes a few spins to latch on to but pretty good. Jeez, their “Hail Satan” sounds weak.
((4)) Dull as fuck “chug-chuga” with ok guitar tone.
(((5))) Weird “indie/math rock” (!?!?), some pretty cool fast speedy stuff with some nice varations but clumsy vocal parts and breakdowns.
((((((6))))) Wooo! THIS is the the fuckin’ Slayer you know & love! Fast, riffy and anti-government!

(((7))) Thick riffs, pretty good vocals but it drags on and on…
((((8)))) (FCC “fucking” sung twice, “fuck” sung once) Good snakey riff ‘ala “South Of Heaven”-era into some thrash.
((((((9)))))) (FCC “fucking” sung once) Slowly builds into a killer thrash attack. Severe heshin’ aggression! Solo King/Solo Hanneman.
((((((10))))) Swarming, infectous, bombastic. One of the better “modern” sounding songs they’ve done.
