KYLESA – “Time Will Fuse it’s Worth” CD (Prosthetic)
Heavy and apocalyptic rock. KYLESA have never fallen into an easy to classify genera. They have always been parts hardcore, metal, crust, and doom. Their drummer left the band and they replaced him with two drummers, which brings a slight tribal feel to some of the songs, note the dual drum, tribal intro and outro. Now they sound even more like NEUROSIS. 3 vocalists (one female), 2 guitar players, and 2 drummers, tradeoff vocals and lots of great riffs.
**2. Straightforward, catchy, with mostly female vocals. They slow down gradually at one point in a very unique way. Some discordant parts.
3. Drums and effects at the beginning. Nice sliding guitar riffs but vocals that are a bit repetitive. Slightly psychedelic middle section. Later there is another quiet section with some guitar noodling.
**4. Dark gothy guitar beginning which eventually turns into a heavy chug. Lots of bass and drums to go along with the simple riff.
5. Quiet eerie beginning that reminds me a little of BLACK SABBATH. The track does have it’s heavy moments but stays mostly mellow.
**7. Another track that begins slightly trippy. This one builds into a huge mid paced pummeling sound. The track goes through a number of changes.
8. Quiet piano opening?? Then a guitar riff with lots of effects, then bass, and an odd transition into the main section of the song. Noisier that the other tracks. Ends very quiet.
9. Quiet clean guitar at the beginning. The track is slow at first then after about a minute speeds up only to return to the slow pace.
Excellent stuff. -mph
