Serious roots skank dub by one of the absolute masters, with some of Jamaica’s best musicians. It just don’t come much dubbier or better! All songs begin with a silly spoken introduction to the song, often followed by a few seconds of echo and silence, so keep that in mind when segueing.
No FCCs. 2, 9 and 10 are particularly good, all are damn fine.
1. 3:15 ***cute spoken intro, great midtempo skanking dub, fun noises everywhere – I love this shit!
2. 3:28 ****silly spoken intro and echo for about 20 seconds, then slightly uptempo skank in minor key, real hip wiggler.
3. 3:36 ***truly wacky intro, echo and a few seconds of silence, then slightly uptempo horn-driven stepping razor skank.
4. 3:46 **intro, then very downtempo and echo-laden dub skank.
5. 3:51 **insane intro, somewhat downtempo skank with lots of echo.
6. 3:37 **downtempo lover’s rock skank with horns and tons of echo.
7. 3:45 **midtempo bubble, sweet horns and odd noises.
8. 3:54 ***midtempo stepping razor skank with bloopy noises and oddness coming in and out all over.
9. 3:53 ****uptempo syncopated boppy skank – so cool!
10. 3:54 ****very downtempo and rootsy with lots of hand percussion, crazy noises.
