Clutch Newsome Reviewed 2007-01-23 | ||
Silly children's songs for adults, indie rock style. Check the back for song titles, which basically give away the whole song. fCC clean. Picks 5,12,13,11,3,18 1-(1:08) Intro song. Straigth foward rock with handclaps. 2-(1:12) Song about beer goggles sung to a trad. nursery rhyme. *3-(2:09) Slow Raffi style brushed drums, ukelele. Lots of fake sesame voices singing along in the background. 4-(1:11) Slower/mellow. "Sneezing on spoons", Interuptions of farty distortion. **5-(1:39) Constrast between high pitched raincloud voice and bass chorus. 6-(0:39) Sweet, simplistic folk. 7-(1:47) Dark, mystery, whisper/sung. Jazzy. 8-(1:49) Dark, distorted screamed vox. Trombone. 9-(2:33) Fast. Sung like a children's song. Straightfoward. 10-(0:54) Slide whistle. Inane. *11-(1:03) Pleasant. breezy. Nice bass line. Closer to indie. *12-(1:20) Soft, college nylon string indie folk. Except the lyrics are ridiculous. *13-(1:33) Mid/fast. Ramones with a little organ. Those damn skaterpunks invaded the discotheque and made a lot of mischief. 14-(1:16) Ukalele. Straightfoward children's song. 15-(1:20) "Reggae". Inane. Vocalist cracks up. 16-(1:46) Mid/fast. Strumed acoustic indie rock. Brushed drums. Slide whistle take the melody on the hook. 17-(1:34) Country rock twang. Lyrics like a Jack Prelutsky poem. *18-(1:01) Delicate, incandescent indie folk (lots of jangly picking). Lyrics are strange as usual. 19-(0:59) Instr. Sounds like people playing on two children's toys. |
