The Sky Drops--Clouds of People
Calming, dreamlike, psychedelic indie rock. Male
lead vocals are soft, breathy, apathetic, Thom Yorke-esque. Light, tranquil background music for a party that has gone to the wee hours of the morning. Lyrics hard to decipher at times. Rob Montejo (guitar and vocals) and Monika Bullette (drums and vocals) are the duo that make up The Sky Drops from Wilmington, Delaware. They create a laid-back force of mellow electric guitar, drums and vocals. Suggested track- #5. FCC Clean.
1. Lonely, mellow lead vocals by Rob Montejo. Not a big range but beautiful harmonies are interweaved evenly throughout the track. Drums kick in heavier half-way through and the song feels more awake. Stays the same speed throughout and same spacey, distant vibe.
2. Very heavy opening. Sounds like it could kick into a driving hard-rock song. When Rob Montejo comes in on vocals, the mood becomes very soothing and withdrawn. Heavy, low guitar returns in the chorus. Doesn't pick up speed. Song fades out with distortion.
3. More up-beat. Medium tempo, more awake. Pop-like vocals about questioning the meaning of love along with the change.
4. Drums more prevalent in this track. Strong bass drum keeps the tempo up. Heavy bass throughout. Longing, drawn-out vocals. Bridge features high-pitched harmonizing, which is a nice variation of sound.
*5. Very dreamlike opening with a drone in the background. Clearer sounding vocals. Catchy, hopeful pop vocals.
