Snakes Say Hiss - I’ll be Lovin’ You

Dancy art-synth-pop. Terrorbird insists that they are “not ironic,” which generally puts them in the category of “people who have to insist they’re not ironic because they want you to know that even though their music sounds like X, they’re actually very hip and arty.” The music itself isn’t bad though, synthy keyboard and some fuzzy guitars nostalgic for a childhood in the 80s, most sounds like the equally unironic early lower-fi casio retro-dance-emo of Hellogoodbye. FCC Clean. Picks: 5, 7

1. Dual casios happily bounce around with vocals that alternate between distanced art/dancepunk vocals and a strained pleaful cry. [3:22]

2. More downbeat, basically spoken vocals for the most part, with a everpresent synth beat and a fun 7th grade guitar-pop chorus. [5:38]

3. Rhythmic guitar and bass beat quickly to keep up the pace. Dancey/catchy. [3:06]

4. Ambient keyboard interlude. [1:02]

*5. Rhythmic keys with some wah-y lead keyboard parts. [3:37]

6. Wherein they address the problems of “Snakes on a [art collective]” with another rocky/dancy number. [3:28]

*7. Emo dance party! Melodic vocals with falsetto 80s backup vocals. [5:11]

8. Organy keys with willfully awkward adolescent “me too!” vocals. [4:43]

9. Reprise of the guitar for a dance pop-punk love ballad with arty vocals. [2:47]

10. Song w/ keys and guitar about how he is a girl who likes stars and unicorns. [5:20]

11. Semi-DFA vocals with steady beat. [4:26]

12. Song about loving babes, with a largely instrumental second half. [3:53]
