Album Review
Red West

Spare and pure inward ambience. Instrumentals, sad and pretty. Electric and acoustic. Loose theme of painful growing. No technical wizardry, none needed.

1. starts with indistinct radio/telephone voices, then sound of an orchestra tuning or droning, sounds lonely, portentious.
2.Pretty acoustic guitar with distant descending arpeggio, bass counterpoint joins in, then piano.
3.Simple bass line with stuttering viola drones and gentle shimmers.
4.Begins introspective then disturbance intrudes
5.Quiet intro, then feedback. Don’t like this one so much.
6.two notes looped with changing bell and synth layered over, pretty.
7.slow post-rock
8.ringing feedback and high shimmer with slow harmony build
9.hissing and piano
10.repetative synth-piano and synth-bass in a mellow downer duet
11.quiet stutter intro, low bass, pretty guitar, slight build.
12.Pure triangle-waves in tech approximation of beauty, marred by machine loop
13.Acoustic guitar simply plucked, then drums and band. A simple, pretty, lightweight song. Drawn out.
14.Sounds like a distant storm & breaking twigs, wind on the mic? Then sad slow piano.
