Dish up some red beans and rice and hold on as New Orleans trumpeter Ruffins and his band, the Barbecue Swingers, serve you a plate full of total feel-good, first-class Crescent City jazz. It’s brassy, sassy, and playful. Recorded live with lots of crowd noise – they are having one hell of a party at this place. Watch for applause and speaking at beginning/end of tracks.

1. One minute spoken introduction. The crowd loves this guy.
*2. Sweet trumpet leads this tropical mid/upbeat sway. Fun vocals.
3. A classic ballad gets swinging w/hip vocals & cool keyboard solo.
*4. Classic upbeat brass jam. Let the parade begin!
5. Childlike vocalist (his daughter?) on a downtempo classic.
6. Up/mid w/fun vocals (crowd sings along). Great trumpet.
*7. Another fun tune, mid/up w/solid brass adding spice.
*8. Lazy, sweet, and charming w/funny lyrics.
9. Upbeat and catchy w/some scatting & a cool sound.
10. Mid/upbeat w/a hint of 70’s funk. Great showcase for his horn.
11. Relaxed, midtempo w/some good solos from the band.
*12. Mid/upbeat that gets into a cool groove. Some serious horn.
13. Mostly midtempo w/lots of crown action. A soul/funk classic.
